What do you do here at Wells and how did you get started?

I am a commercial insurance account executive. I'm a Boomerang employee, so I came here in 05 and was here till 2014 and then left to go to the athletic department of my alma mater, Coastal Carolina University. I moved back from Castle Rock (Denver area) here to Wilmington in July of 2021 and I've been back here with the agency now for just over a year.

What is your area of expertise?

I played collegiate golf, played lots of tournament golf, and worked in the golf business. I  worked for the PGA Tour, I worked for TPC Scottsdale, and the Phoenix open. I had the privilege of working with some really high end private golf clubs on the East Coast everywhere from Washington, DC area, to what led me here to Wilmington at Eagle Point Golf Club. So I handle much of the Country Club and Golf business here at Wells.

Saving Private Ryan and Jurassic Park

Why Wells? What do you like most about working here?

I would say why not Wells?I I have been fortunate to work for some incredible organizations but Wells is truly unique. These guys, they get it. There's a lot of great people at this organization, and I think a company is only as good as the people that it has. That's really what sets Wells apart.

What is the most memorable moment of your career?

I'm going to be the optimist here. I'm gonna say it hasn't happened yet. I feel very confident in what we are doing here at Wells. I really hope, feel, and believe that most memorable moment is is still out there for us. 

Favorite Book:

The first one that comes to mind would be April 1865 by Jay Winik. But I also love David McCullough, Nathaniel Philbrick, Joseph J. Ellis, presidential biographies, etc.

What do you enjoy most about your specific job?

The people and the relationships. I enjoying engaging and helping people.

What's at the top of your bucket list?

I would say it's probably traveling the world. I love cruises. We've we've taken several cruises over the years. I would love to take a cruise around the world.

Favorite TV Show:

History channel puts out some great miniseries such as America: The Story of Us or 102 Minutes That Changed America. Many of those I enjoy.

Best career lesson you've learned over the years?

I'll borrow a Ben Hogan quote. "The more I practice, the luckier I get." I just know if you put in the effort, it will pay off and and sales is just like that.  

How has working at Wells positively impacted your life?

Working here has positively impacted my life for many reasons. It's great to come to an organization where there's just a lot of happy people who enjoy what they do. Is insurance the most popular thing in the world to work in? meh...but at the end of the day, we help build up businesses and we protect those businesses. 

Favorite Musician:

My favorite band is 21 pilots...love the energy, love their message. Concerts are phenomenal, but I do have to sneak in some Keane, some stuff like that. I can listen to some Eagles, some Gordon Lightfoot...

How do you define success?

I define success as going home at the end of the day and you feel good about what you've done. You feel that you've accomplished something, you've helped somebody, and that you've given your best.  

What's your favorite volunteer organization?

I've been fortunate to to serve in some church leadership roles, more so toward the the youth side impacting the next generation, the next group of leaders, and how they're going to impact people. 

What do you like to do when you're not working?

I've got 3 little ones at home. I love to chase them around. We love to travel, whether it's around the world or around the country. I love to play golf. We love concerts, love music. I love seeing the kids dance. We have little dance parties at the house, put the speakers on, and turn it loose, let them go. 

What's the best advice you've been given?

Don't take yourself too seriously. I really enjoy just enjoy laughing. I love being around people that like to laugh. There's nothing worse than being around miserable people.
